Rugby boss gets one year extension

The man who has been at the helm of Lakapi Samoa has been given a one-year extension on his contract after the board meeting last week, the Samoa Observer can reveal.
Faleomavaega Titimaea Tafua, a board member of Lakapi Samoa and former coach of Manu Samoa, responded to queries from this newspaper and confirmed that the board thoroughly assessed the performance of Lakapi Samoa's current Chief Executive Officer Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea'i during their meeting.
Faleomavaega, who is also a Member of Parliament stated that the board members were in complete agreement to prolong the contract of the current CEO for an additional year.
Faleomavaega clarified that the decision was based on the board's contentment with the outcomes and advancements within the rugby union under Faleomavaega Vincent's leadership, emphasizing that there were no concerns or issues.
He also confirmed that the board also reviewed and assessed the contract and performance of the current Manu Samoa XV's Head Coach, Vaovasamanaia Seilala Mapusua.
"We have looked and reviewed the contract and performance of the coach," Faleomavaega said.
"But we have yet reached a decision but everything looks okay at the moment."
The Lakapi Samoa C.E.O. has been leading the development of Samoa's rugby union since 2015. He was last re-appointed in February of 2020 for four years.
