Vaitele bestows new Matai'a title holder
A new title holder of the Matai’a title of Vaitele was bestowed on Friday morning in a grand ceremony held in the village of Vaitele.
Matai’a Margaret Lamositele has conferred the high ranked title in the presence of representatives from the Faleata district and Tuamasaga, villagers and family from here and abroad who came to witness the occasion.
She is a descendant of the Uilaefa clan and takes over the title after the passing of the late title holder Matai’a Lynn Netzler in 2022.
Humbled with the honour bestowed upon her, Matai’a Margaret thanked God for his blessings that have allowed for the successful completion of the ceremony.
In an interview with the Samoa Observer, she acknowledged the support from the majority of her family who put their trust in her to hold the title and lead the family.
“I am depending on God to help me and use me to care for my family without boundary,” she said.
“I’d also like to thank my family from abroad that continue to offer their support and all glory to God.”
Matai’a Margaret is 44 years old and married to the Minister for the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour, Leota Laki Lamositele Sio.
She has six children and eight grandchildren.
The bestowment ceremony was led by Rev. Reupena Asiata from the Vaitele-uta Methodist church followed by the blessing of the title by high chief of Toamua and Member of Parliament, Ale Vena Ale.
