Laafoga Faatui, 54, Faleula

It has been 34 years since I left Samoa and never came back until this time. I have seen that so much has changed so I wish to come back home and develop a business here. That's my New Year's resolution. Having been here for a few days, I am certain of the business I want to develop in my homeland given what I have observed so far and that is a car rental company. I can tell it's one of the most improving businesses here. I tried looking for a rental since I came but all are fully booked and that inspired me.

Lesieli Fuiono, 35, Lotopa

I've been running a FM radio show back at home in Tonga about financial planning for over a year now but my plan for next year is to expand the show to run more workshops in the villages, just talk especially to young girls about how to use money wisely and be independent. I am currently in the main capital of Tonga and planning to take it to the outer islands to run workshops. I have a co-host and we are looking for funds to run the workshops.

Nau Bloomfield, 37, Alafua

New Year's resolution is to become a better mother and spend more time with the kids because most of my time is at work and I think my resolution is to become a better mother. Not only in terms of spending time with the kids but also cleanliness. We learned during the pandemic the importance of hygiene and losing some weight.

Rejoice Dan, 22, Vaoala

My New Year resolution is to build a stronger bond with my parents, especially my mother because this year has been quite challenging for us, I have been a very disobedient child or daughter and I would get beaten up a lot. Because of that, I wish to change that next year. Become more obedient and become the source of happiness for my parents.

Paulo Nuumalu, 54, Fagalii

I have always wanted to change myself for the better and this year, that did not happen but looking back and with the new year approaching, I think this is my year to change and that's my New Year's resolution. I want to refrain from drinking alcohol, and most especially taking drugs like marijuana and many other types of drugs and go to church because I am not getting any younger.

Solomona Amosa, 35, Matautu

I think for 2024, I have long ago set my goal or New Year's resolution for next year and that is to make sure my son goes to school despite the challenges in trying to make money to put food on our table, there will be no excuse next year as I have to get my son to school so I will do everything I can to make that happen.
