Lighting the world with Campus children

The children from the Campus of Hope were all joy and smiles after spending time at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Pesega, and even happier when they went back home with a karaoke machine.

The children under the shelter care of the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) were the beneficiaries of an inspirational initiative on the theme: Light the World. Share Kindness this Christmas.

Coordinated by the missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Pesega, the children and their carers were transported to the church hall which was beautifully decorated for the event.

Awaiting the children were the bishops, elders, Sisters, missionaries and their families, who helped the children with crafting, face painting, and capturing the moments with a Polaroid photoshoot.

The simple joy of watching movies while enjoying delicious pizza counted, as every moment was filled with laughter and happiness.

According to a nine-year-old girl resident of the Campus of Hope, this was the best time they have had.

“I am so happy to see so many people being happy together with us,” she said.

According to SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang, as the children were arranged into their transports back to the Campus of Hope, there was a general feeling of gratitude and appreciation.

“They sang to the Campus and talked with the joy of the engagement with the missionaries, who have helped them with their studies and spiritual guidance, throughout the year,” she said.

Siliniu acknowledged the holistic support from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints over the years.

“You have joined the extended family of the SVSG and immediately identified the need for support, whether it is spiritual, well-being, medical, educational, or counseling for the personnel. The response from the children while spending the day with you all attests to a familiar close relationship that we have developed over the years, and we are blessed,” she said.

“Thank you also for the karaoke machine you have gifted the children, in accordance with their wish list presented to you.”

“Wishing you and your families, here and abroad, a joyous Christmas as the kindness that you share, continues to light the world.”
