Tourists fall in love with Samoa's beauty
A group of tourists from Henderson, West Auckland in New Zealand have fallen in love with Samoan culture and the pristine beauty the islands have to offer and they cannot get enough of it.
Jennifer Doran said she was captivated by the closeness and the significance Samoans place on their culture, having established a connection through her daughter who is married to a Samoan man.
The group agreed that they had to come, see and feel what Samoa is like after hearing so much about it.
In an interview with the Samoa Observer, Mrs. Doran stated that Samoans take great pride in their pleasant climate and their excellent hospitality.
“My daughter is married to a Samoan man and we are connected to the whole family and his parents as well,” she said.
“We came over here because this morning, at his village, he received a matai title, which was a wonderful opportunity that we have never had before.
“We enjoy Samoa because the locals are kind and we had a great time relaxing and enjoying the warm weather throughout our vacation.
"We had the opportunity to visit the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum and the beautiful Mt. Vaea and enjoy the island cuisine in Samoa is delicious."
They shared their experience of the cultural performances at the Taumeasina Fiafia Night and villages on the island.
“Watching the performances indicates how strong the culture is and its value in this country," she said.
"We were able to witness cultural events during Taumeasina Fiafia Night and fire dancing, and we also visited villages where we observed fascinating men climbing coconut trees to get coconuts."
Despite having a hard time finding their way to destinations they wanted to visit, Mrs. Doran and her family are looking forward to spending more time in Samoa during the holidays.
This was their first trip to the islands and they have promised to be back again and the next time spend more time exploring Samoa, especially in the remote rural areas.
"Samoa is a paradise and I hope that the people of Samoa realise what they have. I hope this closeness to the culture and the land never ceases," said Mrs. Doran.
Meanwhile, hotels across Samoa have been booked out as family and visitors flock to the island. Weddings, title bestowal, and family reunions are happening in Upolu and Savaii.
There will be 100 title bestowals this weekend in Manono-uta this weekend.
