The new Vodafone Samoa advertisement on unlimited data features a talent or model that does not exist in real life, the Samoa Observer can reveal. 

The telecommunication company has confirmed with the Samoa Observer following the release of its advertisement on Friday. 

Created with AI or Artificial Intelligence, the model looks realistic. AI image generators utilise trained artificial neural networks to create images from scratch. 

These generators have the capacity to create original, realistic visuals based on textual input provided in natural language. Unlike Google search, which just picks up existing photos, AI creates a new image from scratch using the inputs given.

The AI model DALL·E 2 is the most popular AI system created by Open AI, creates realistic images and art from a description in natural language. There are several other such platforms gaining popularity.  

This has been reported as one of the greatest technological shifts in history.

A “virtual human” designed by South Korean artificial intelligence company Pulse9, Zae-In spent five months this year reading live news bulletins on national broadcaster SBS.
