Samoa Cancer Society has been given SAT$3,000 by a Samoan business, which according to the C.E.O. Papali’i Su’a John Ryan, is leading the way for the private sector through staff awareness.

Samoa Stationery and Books (SSAB) are regular contributors to the S.C.S. so they are able to carry out their work and assist Samoans who are living with cancer.

“It’s a blessing to the Samoa Cancer Society that SSAB continues to advocate and contribute to promoting the awareness of cancer prevention,” said Papali’i. “The monetary donations received are always a blessing to our operations and work.

"However, the dedication of SSAB to promoting the awareness of getting regular checkups and early detection of cancer is admirable.”

The SSAB Chief Executive Officer, Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai together with her Stock Control Manager, Filemu Samoa and Assistant Manager Aoge Moto presented the cheque to the S.C.S. The donation comprises the proceeds from the business' Pinktober promotion and the pink ribbon project coordinated by their Stock Control Department.

Tofilau shared that it is her business intention to continue to give back to the community. She said God had blessed the company and it was only right that they shared the blessings by helping people.

“We are called to help others and I praise God that SSAB is able to help non-profit organisations such as the Samoa Cancer Society,” she said.

According to Papali’I, the total donation received from SSAB this year is SAT$8,000. The first donation of SAT$5,000 was presented to the S.C.S. in August this year at the company's gala night.

Papali’i said there was never a time when the S.C.S. reached out for help and SSAB did not assist and he acknowledged the continued financial assistance from Tofilau and SSAB.

Stock Control Manager, Filemu echoed CEO Tofilau’s sentiments and said all this work is done out of love and the heart of the people through the work of the S.C.S.

“We want to thank everyone who supported our project. Thank you for buying all our pink ribbons to support the Pinktober campaign and the work of the Samoa Cancer Society. I also wish to acknowledge our CEO for her good examples that have trickled down to us, especially her heart to help our community."
