The return of two senior Opposition members to Parliament and the appointment of two new Cabinet Ministers had led to the reshuffling of parliamentary committees.

The changes were recently announced by the Chairman of Parliamentary Committees and Deputy Speaker, Auapaau Mulipola Aloitafua in the House.

Opposition Leader, Tuilaepa Dr. Sailele Malielegaoi and Party secretary, Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi have returned to the Legislative Assembly pending an appeal on their two years suspension.

The Speaker of the House, Papalii Lio Masipau has acknowledged the decision from the Supreme Court to reinstate the members noting they can resume their responsibilities and return to their seats.

However, Papalii made it clear that the matter is not over yet with an appeal to be heard in November.

The changes see Tuilaepa returning to the Finance and Expenditure Committee to replace Aiono Tile Gafa and Lealailepule replacing Alai’asa Sepulona Moananu.

Tuilaepa and Lealailepule were initially on the Finance Committee but were removed in November following their two years suspension imposed by the House.

Also in the Finance Expenditure Committee is Tuu’u Anasii Leota who will replace the Minister of Finance, Lautimuia Uelese Vaai.

In the Standing Orders, Electoral, Petitions and Constitutional Offices Committee the M.P. for Satupaitea, Lautafi Selafi Purcell will replace Ale Vena Ale.

The new Minister of Sports and Recreation, Laumatiamanu Ringo Purcell has been replaced by Ale on the Social Sector Committee.

Other changes on the Social Committee is Alai’asa joining the group while Aiono Tile has been called in to replace Tuu’u in the Economic Sector Committee.

The motion was approved by the Parliament before it adjourned until December.
