Motorists in Samoa will pay more for fuel at service stations around the country with the Minister of Finance advising of a price increase for all retail petroleum products effective 1 November.

In a press release issued Tuesday night, the Minister for Finance, Lautimuia Afoa Uelese Vaai advised that changes in retail petroleum products prices will apply from 1 November 2023.

He said petrol will increase by 8.4 sene per litre from $3.43 to $3.52, diesel will increase by 14.5 sene per litre from $3.68 to $3.83 and kerosene will increase by 17.8 sene per litre from $3.29 to $3.47.

According to the Minister, the country's November 2023 prices are based on September MOPS market prices and highlighted ongoing concerns such as the Russia-Ukraine war and OPEC+ continuing to control crude oil supplies, which have led to further increases in both crude oil and refined product prices.

Some other factors that have contributed to the increase of the prices for November are due to further increases in Singapore Prices (MOPS), freight rates and a weakening SAT/US$ which has resulted in higher landing costs.
