Miss Samoa New South Wales, Moemoana Safa'ato'a Schwenke has been crowned the 2023/2024 Digicel Miss Samoa after a dominant display.

Taking her place in the pageant as Contestant No. 9, she dominated most of the major categories at the finale on Saturday evening and took out Best Talent, Best Interview as well as Best Siva Samoa, the Best Sarong Award, the Best Puletasi Award, and the Miss Internet Award.

Haylani Pearl Kuruppu, Miss Samoa of 2022-2023, performed her final rites as the current holder by putting the crown on the head of her successor followed by the hash to cheering and applause from a fully packed crowning night venue at the Tuanaimato Gym in Apia.

The 1st Runner-up to Miss Samoa New South Wales was Contestant No. 8 Miss Apia Insurance, Nicolina June Ah Koui with Contestant No. 10 Miss Arilei Couture, Karameli Serah Purcell taking 2nd Runner-up. 

The new Miss Samoa hails from the villages of Auala, Asau, and Matavai Safune in Savai'i, Taufusi, Matautu Lefaga, and Vaimea in Upolu. 

Moemoana, who was born in Samoa and raised between New Zealand and Australia, is the eldest daughter of Frederick Schwenke and Maryjane Mckibbin-Schwenke. 

Her mother Maryjane is renowned for her Siva Samoa and as a former Miss Samoa and Miss South Pacific in 1997-1998.
