A Samoan tatau worn proudly by Fale Andrew Lesa in Mongolia caught the eyes of famous travel vlogger Nuseir Yassin who goes by the username Nas Daily.

Mr. Yassin is an Arab-Israeli vlogger who has created over 1,000 daily, one-minute-long videos on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram under the page Nas Daily.

In response to questions by this newspaper, Mr. Lesa explained that he met with the vlogger on Saturday after a week of filming in Mongolia.

He is in Mongolia to promote New Zealand tourism as a city councillor for Auckland where he resides.

"We talked about digital tourism and how people like him can use their influence to promote small countries like Mongolia and Samoa that struggle with tourism," he said.

"He was really interested in my pe'a and the ancient rituals involved in our tattoos. I told him the word tattoo literally comes from the Samoan word tatau."

In terms of visiting Samoa, the Samoan added that the government usually invites famous vloggers to the country through official channels.

"I definitely encourage the Minister of Tourism to consider approaching Dwyane The Rock Johnson who could help arrange a meeting with Nas Daily," he added.

"I really enjoyed being in his presence. I could sense that he is genuine and down to earth and encouraged him to visit the Pacific."

Meanwhile,  Mr. Yassin's videos are believed to have boosted travel and tourism for many countries. He travels to different countries and he posts about rare facts about a country.

In 2016, he quit his job at Venmo and decided to explore the world with the intention of documenting his travels and experiences on video.

This resulted in him creating a Facebook page known as Nas Daily where he would create and release a one-minute-long video daily for 1,000 days.

After meeting Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in early 2018, Nas Daily was upgraded to "show" status and by September 2018, his page had amassed over eight million followers. By November of the same year, this number had risen to over 10 million.

All of Yassin's one-minute daily videos are posted to Facebook. Yassin stated in 2017 that he does not post the videos to YouTube for a multitude of reasons, including his friends not being present on the platform.
