Reigning Miss Global to visit Samoa
The reigning Miss Global 2022 Shane Tormes will visit Samoa next month at the invitation of the local firm Vodafone Samoa as preparations continue for the country's participation in the global pageant.
Miss Global will travel from her home country Philippines and will arrive in Samoa on Tuesday 12 September 2023 and will be accompanied by a representative of the Miss Global Organisation who will fly in from the U.S.A.
Vodafone Samoa C.E.O. Rana Bose said in a statement that the Miss Global Organisation has a big following globally and he is excited with her visit to Samoa.
“This is probably the first time any reigning global pageant winner is visiting Samoa," said the C.E.O. "The Miss Global Organisation is followed by 1.3 million people globally on Instagram alone and her visit will promote Samoa as a tourist destination in a big way.
"We are excited to promote Samoan culture through her visit to Samoa."
Vodafone Samoa, in preparation for her visit, has scheduled a Samoan traditional welcome along with charity, "meet the press", and meet and greet with key Vodafone Samoa customers, together with introducing her to Samoan culture.
The local telecommunications firm has also initiated a national competition to send a Samoan woman to Vietnam in November this year to take part in the Miss Global Pageant, where participants from 75 countries will take part in the 10th anniversary of the Global Pageant. The winner from Samoa will be fully funded by Vodafone Samoa and its associates to travel to Vietnam. Registration is currently on and interested candidates can apply online through the web address vodafone.com.ws
