The Manu Samoa captain is now a high chief of the village of Solosolo after he was bestowed the Nuafesili title at Siupapa on Wednesday morning.

The conferring of the Nuafesili title – according to the high chiefs and elders of Solosolo and the district of Anoama'a No. 2 – is a token of appreciation for the dedication, commitment, and service of one of their sons, Nuafesili "Aukusitino III" Fritz Lee.

The bestowal ceremony was held in Siupapa, Solosolo and was attended by the matai of the village and the district as well as the Manu Samoa management and players.

The Minister of Women, Community, and Social Development, Leota Lamositele Laki Sio together with the Deputy Opposition Leader, Lauofo Pierre Lauofo were amongst the high chiefs who assembled at Siupapa to witness the cultural ceremony.

Upon receiving his ava cup, Nuafesili who is better known as 'Fritz', expressed his gratitude to his family and village for honouring his service to the country and also thanked his village and family for their love, support, and prayers.

He said he was privileged and humbled by the respect given to him by his village and asked his village and family to continue supporting the country's national team as they prepare for their game against the Ikale Tahi on Saturday.

Minister Leota used the opportunity to remind Nuafesili that being a leader is very important and reminded the Manu Samoa Skipper to honour his calling and to lead with love, humility, and passion.

As flag bearers for Samoa, Leota urged the Skipper and his teammates to continue working hard, take pride in their work, and be faithful to their calling.

The veteran M.P. for Anoama'a No. 2 echoed similar sentiments while also wishing the new Nuafesili title holder all the very best not only for their upcoming game but also when he returns to where he is currently residing.
