Bryan family's perfect getaway

Samoa's sun and sand have provided Kiwi Alex Bryan and his family an escape route from Wellington's chilly weather where they had highs of 15 degrees Celsius and lows of eight.

And it was easy to see why for the Bryan family, Samoa was the perfect getaway. After a rousing trip to the Savai'i, the family returned to the Tanoa Hotel in Apia where Samoa Observer caught with the family.

They made the most of their day in the swimming pool and it was the best way to cool off in Samoa’s tropical climate.

“The weather is beautiful and perfect. I am here with my partner and our families,” said Mr. Bryan.“We’ve been here for almost over a week. We spent four nights in Savai'i where we traveled around doing a little exploring and relaxing.

“We came back yesterday and we are going to stay here for another two nights and we’re just going to chill out with family under the sunshine, the warmth and with fresh food.”

He said they had an awesome time in Savai'i and described it as very laid back, relaxed, rustic and raw.

“The hospitality was awesome and the people there were really lovely. We stayed at Stevenson’s at Manase, the staff and accommodation were great and we just spent time with our family from Samoa."

This is the first time he has come for a vacation and shared this experience with his three-year-old daughter Milani, who was having the time of her life. His partner is of Samoan heritage and is from Apia.

“It is definitely worth the visit. It’s very laid back and relaxed, and it’s really easy to switch off here. The last week has been really perfect for us and a positive break from our busy lifestyle,” he said. “Back home it's winter and it's freezing man. Everyone’s been telling us on social media how cold it is and how they think it’s going to snow.”

He was asked whether he was excited to go back, and he replied unenthusiastically that he was not ready to leave.

“I’m not looking forward to going back. If I could extend my stay I would but we will be here for a total of 18 days so it’ll be a really good break for us to enjoy” he said.

He said that he is enjoying the poke and 0ka in Samoa and is in love with the fresh fish and fruits which have been made available for them non-stop since they set foot in our little paradise.
