Appeal by widow of former C.J. dismissed
An appeal by the widow of the former chief justice, who claimed he died without a will, has been dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
The decision was the first matter read out Tuesday morning by the panel of senior Justices chaired by Justice Rhys Harrison alongside Justice William Young and Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma.
Iliganoa Daphne Sapolu, the widow of the late former chief justice, Patu Falefatu Sapolu appealed the decision of the Chief Justice, His Honour Satiu Simativa Perese.
After a substantive hearing, Chief Justice Perese was satisfied that Patu had his last will and testament prepared by his sister and Ombudsman, Lumanuvao Katalina Sapolu.
And in its ruling Tuesday morning, the Court of Appeal agreed with the findings by Chief Justice Perese and dismissed Mrs. Sapolu's appeal.
