S.V.S.G. invites public to 'family fun day'
The Samoa Victim Support Group is hoping members of the public bring their families to support the children at the Campus of Hope's Family Fun Day at the end of the month.
The S.V.S.G. President Siliniu Lina Chang is encouraging all their partners to join the celebration which is all part of their fundraising campaign.
“This event will celebrate the kind and generous donations from individuals, communities and businesses to the S.V.S.G. 2023 Online Fundraising Campaign, Saving Lives,” she said. “To our local communities, don’t forget to bring the whole family for a day of fun, while supporting S.V.S.G.’s fundraising campaign.
"To our travelling families and friends during this time so that you can be part of the network, rallying support behind the work of S.V.S.G.”
While the formalities and the fundraising will be live on local media and social media, outside on the Samoa Tourism Authority grounds, children will enjoy a jumping castle, face painting, fun games and more.
The event will consist of a live DJ, traditional Samoan activities, a photo booth and as well as raffles for prizes. All the proceeds from food and drinks purchased will go towards helping the children of the Campus of Hope.
“Our hardworking Nofotane women will sell their handcrafted fashion and jewellery, home and living products, and artwork,” Siliniu added.
“Proceeds from S.V.S.G. Family Fun Day, as well as other donations to the S.V.S.G. 2023 Online Fundraising Campaign, will help S.V.S.G. to continue operating its free helpline and Campus of Hope."
The donations will enable S.V.S.G. to employ more caseworkers to support and represent an increasing number of victims and others in crisis.
The S.V.S.G. will also use donations to sustain its efforts in raising awareness of gender-based violence in Samoa and providing rehabilitation training to offenders. The Family Fun Day will be held on 29 July.
