It is on to the knockout stage at the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Women's U-19 Championship with Samoa going into the quarter-finals of the competition.

The tournament is being held in Fiji and Samoa has shown great form by winning two of their three pool games and has now made it to the knockout stages.

The quarter-final draw was made following the completion of the Group stage at the OFC U-19 Women’s Championship. The Group A runner-up Samoa will play Tahiti in the first quarter-final at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Saturday. The second quarter-final on Saturday will feature Group A winner New Caledonia against hosts Fiji who finished runner-up in Group B.

Sunday’s first quarter-final pits defending champion New Zealand and Group B winner, against the Group C runner-up Solomon Islands with Group C winner Cook Islands to play Vanuatu in the last of the quarter-finals on Sunday night.

It was an incredible event for Group A with Samoa securing a major upset against Vanuatu. It staged an incredible comeback to nab a spot in the quarter-finals. They beat Vanuatu 3-2 over Vanuatu in Lautoka after an own goal by Vanuatu’s team sparked Samoa’s last efforts for their third goal.

The Football Federation Samoa (FFS) management expressed how proud they were of the girls with a post on their social media page about their victory over the Nivans.

“Congratulations to our U-19 Women’s Team for winning today’s match against the mighty Vanuatu ladies,” reads the post by the FFS.
