Samoa's biggest fashion event in August
Samoa’s biggest fashion event the Lifecon Pacific Fashion Show has started its countdown with seven weeks to go as local and overseas designers will showcase their designs.
Lifecon received support from their exclusive telecommunication sponsor Digicel with a sum of SAT$15,000.
According to organisers, Lifecon is the only forum that provided a platform to bring together the amazing talent of creative artists from around Samoa and the region.
The Season Six of Lifecon Pacific which will take place from 16 August to 18 August.
Digicel Chief Executive Officer Anthony Seuseu said it was a pleasure seeing the creative arts and fashion industry grow exponentially with new technology and social media platforms.
He said he hoped that their support will boost the small businesses involved with Lifecon Pacific.
“This has created a digital canvas allowing our local talents to showcase to the world the amazing and unique creations Samoa has to offer. Digicel is committed to supporting the growth and development of the creative arts and entrepreneurs," said Mr. Seuseu.
The Lifecon Pacific director and creator, Vaagi Kevin Lucky said this year’s setup will focus strongly on empowering artists and small businesses to strengthen their online presence and fully utilise social media platforms to effectively market their brands.
“Despite COVID-19 and its impact we have bounced back strong and we feel that with this sponsorship it has boosted the hype for the event. We are thankful for Digicel coming on board,” said Mr. Lucky.
It has reached the region with designers from outside of Samoa such as Australia, New Zealand and American Samoa. This year they are looking forward to welcoming Fijian designers.
“So far we haven’t had a confirmed number of creative artists but we are just around 15 right now. These are not just fashion designers, these are hair and makeup artists, visual artists and we anticipate between 25-30 participants,” he said.
“The creative industry is quite broad but Lifecon is specifically focusing on fashion and art. We use this platform to really celebrate their talents and skills.”
They have put out a call for models for auditions later on this week and have confirmed that they will be head-hunting for models as well.
