Police raid nets meth, man charged

Police have found methamphetamine in a raid conducted over the weekend at Motootua and a 46-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics.

He is currently remanded in custody until 12 June for mention.

Meth is becoming increasingly common in the raids that are being conducted by the Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services.

The operation resulted in the seizure of illicit narcotics which is believed to be methamphetamine, cash, utensils, ammunition and electronic devices.

“The success of this operation serves as a warning to other individuals engaging in illegal narcotics activity and SPPCS will continue to work to disrupt and dismantle illegal drug operations in Samoa,” said the Police in a statement.

“SPPCS would like to remind the public that drug related offences is a serious crime with severe health consequences and we urge anyone with information to come forward and report any suspicious activity.

“SPPCS extends thanks to the members of the community who provided valuable information that led to this operation's success. Your continued support and trust in SPPCS are crucial to keeping our communities safe.”

Police have urged the members for more information or to report any further suspicious activity. The public can contact the police in person or by telephone on the number 22222.
