Leiataua gets second term as SSC Chief
Cabinet has endorsed the re-appointment of Leiataua Samuel Phineas at the helm of the Samoa Shipping Corporation (S.S.C) for a second three-year-term.
This was confirmed by a statement released by the Press Sceretariat’s Office on Friday morning.
According to the statement, Leiātaua was strongly recommended by the panel to continue for another three years.
“He was first appointed to this position in May 2020 following years of services as a seafarer, a National University of Samoa lecturer and Operations Manager for the Office of Tokelau affairs,” said the statement.
“He also served as an A.C.E.O. at the Samoa Shipping Corporation.
“Leiātaua resides with his wife and children at Fa’ato’iaalemanū and also hails from the village of Lepuia’i, Manono.
“He holds all the relevant qualifications and credentials to lead the S.S.C. to achieve its outcomes and provide safe and reliable ferry and marine shipping services.”
Leiataua holds a 2nd Mate Foreign Going certificate from the New Zealand Maritime School; a Master Class 2 Certificate; and a Maritime Auditors Certificate.
He is married to Angie Palu Phineas. They have seven children.
He is the son of the late Leiataualetauᾱ Herbert Samuel Phineas and Utuoge Fa’alolo Phineas.
