The Electoral court has dismissed the election petition and counter petition for the Vaimauga No.3 constituency.

This F.A.S.T. Party's Lautimuia Uelese Vaai will remain as the representative for Vaimauga No3 for the remainder of this parliamentary term.

This comes after the Electoral Court on Friday afternoon dismissed a petition filed by the unsuccessful HRPP candidate against Lautimuia.

The court also dismissed a counter-petition filed by Lautimuia against Samau Leatigagaeono Timani.

During the by-election, 2,719 valid votes were cast with the F.A.S.T. candidate getting 1,531 with his rival and H.R.P.P. candidate Samau Solitamali'i Timani Samau received 1,082 votes.

Lautimuia's was declared the winner. Soon after a petition was filed Samau claiming that his opponent had bribed voters. Similar claims were made in the counter petition.

The court decision means the ruling F.A.S.T. party now has 32 seats in the 51 seat Parliament.
