One man, who was among four suspects arrested by the Police following a raid at Vaimoso early this month, has been granted bail by the Supreme Court.

The other three are to remain in custody until the matter is called again before the Court on 24 April 2023 with the prosecution being given more time to finalise all the charges against the defendants.

The four defendants who were arrested and charged by the Police earlier this month are Leuluaiotumua Jerry Pose, Samuelu Fa'aseu, Nick Ah Kuoi, and Avia Fa'atutala Esera.

Leuluaiotumua Jerry was represented by counsel Lesa, while Avia Esera was represented by lawyer Lucy Sio. Both counsels submitted bail applications for their clients, which were served on Monday this week and they are now awaiting a response from the prosecution.

Fa'aseu, who is one of the defendants, informed the court that he wished to engage a lawyer to represent him in court. Ah Kuoi said he did not need legal representation.

Police initially had a search warrant to recover stolen items from Leuluaiotumua's residence in Vaimoso. According to the Police, one of the suspects in a separate case of burglary and theft directed them to the residence of Leuluaiotumua. The suspect informed Police that the stolen laptops and phones were sold to Leuluaiotumua.

However, when police executed the search warrant to try and retrieve the stolen items, they discovered three small plastic bags of methamphetamine inside the black wallet belonging to Leuluaiotumua and a branch of marijuana found inside a small container.

The other three defendants, in this case, were at Leuluaiotumua's residence at the time of the raid and were arrested by Police. They are jointly charged with possession of narcotics and are remanded in custody.
