The Faleata No. 4 district on Saturday officially opened its district office whose construction was funded under the Government's SAT$1 million district grants project. 

Under the district grants project, the Government initially gave $200,000 to all constituencies to build their offices in line with a set criteria before the rest of the $1 million was disbursed. The new office is located at Toamua village.

As for the Faleata No. 4 District, a total of $200,000 was distributed with another $125,000 used to pay for furniture and computers in the office as well as the salaries of the contractors. The construction work was awarded to AK Built company at the cost of $125,000. 

The Member of Parliament for Faleata No. 4 is Ale Vena Ale, who made headlines towards the end of last year when he and two other Members resigned from the Human Rights Protection Party to become Independent MPs, also attending the official opening. 

Ale acknowledged the Government for the initiative and added that the rest of the $1 million will be used to fund their district's development projects.

"Our first project is to be put forth to the selected committee is to have an advisory committee which can comprise overseas-based residents to assist in initiating future developments for our district," he said.

The opening of the district office was also attended by the Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Molioo and the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Laaulialemalietoa Polataivao Schmidt.

Mulipola attended the opening on behalf of the Minister of Women Community and Social Development, Leota Laki who ministerial portfolio oversees the overall project.

The opening was a success and the district looks forward to their development projects for the future of the district.
