A step forward for Samoa in Geospatial Information.
More grounds will be made in the area of geospatial information as SkyEye Pacific represented Samoa at the Oceania Geospatial Symposium for 2022 in Noumea, New Caledonia.
The OGS Taskforce was generous in sponsoring representatives from SkyEye Samoa, SkyEye Solomon Islands, SkyEye Tonga and SkyEye Vanuatu.
Geospatial analysis is the gathering, display, and manipulation of imagery, GPS, satellite photography and historical data, described explicitly in terms of geographic coordinates or implicitly, in terms of a street address, postal code, or forest stand identifier as they are applied to geographic models.
Sam Saili who is the head of the Samoa delegation to the conference said the focus of the symposium is creating a community of Geospatial experts that can use their expertise to grow and promote the use of geospatial information for decision making for the communities, business and government.
The symposium was attended by experts from around the globe from France, UK, Australia, New Zealand and most of our Pacific Islands. A great opportunity to learn from one another as well as help with the upskilling of participants.
Geospatial information is data that is referenced to the earth and can be used for analysis, simulation and visualization to help make informed decisions that involve people, assets and places.
The Oceania Geospatial Symposium is a community event organized for the benefit of the geospatial community and dedicated to the Pacific Island countries and territories.
