Ministry projects heavy rain for all of Samoa
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment's Meteorological Division has projected heavy rain for the next few days and warned some areas could experience floodings.
It has been raining continuously in some parts of the country with some areas, especially in the highlands of both Upolu and Savai'i experiencing more rain than others.
The Meteorological Division confirmed that Samoa will experience strong winds and heavy rain activity with flood for some areas in their latest advisory issued on Tuesday afternoon.
Issuing the caution in its heavy rain and flood advisory, the Meteorological Division said a convergence zone now lies within the vicinity of Samoa providing cloudy conditions all over the country.
It also warned that an increasing trend of rainfall activities is expected for the rest of the week with heavy downpours and thunderstorm activities until Thursday.
"The abovementioned system will maintain scattered rain with heavy downpours and thunderstorm activities until Thursday. Expect gusty winds at times," reads the advisory issued by the office.
"Due to these conditions, the heavy rain warning for all land areas and flood advisory is now enforced for all major rivers and vulnerable areas."
The potential impacts of the heavy downpour are poor visibility and gusty winds, foggy and slippery roads over mountain passes and ranges, pooling near roadsides and waterways, adds the advisory, which added that flash flooding and landslides are possible.
