It was a proud moment for the Salvation Army as they blessed the new site of their headquarters in Vaivase on Saturday morning.

It was a ceremony attended by the family, friends and colleagues who braved the cloud and early morning showers.

Pastor Julie Turner of the Salvation Army said it was finally good to have a place they could call their own and it was a proud moment for their organisation.

She thanked their children, who they dubbed 'prayer warriors', for remaining faithful in their prayers for the last five years when they had first started looking for a piece of land in 2018.

"Our biggest prayer request was a piece of land to call home," she said.

"I also want to acknowledge all the young children who have been faithful prayer warriors since" It is great news for them to have a place they can call home."

Husband and wife, Pastor Eric and Julie Turner are the regional leaders of the Salvation Army in Samoa and for them it was an emotional moment.

In his interview with the Samoa Observer, Pastor Eric said they have made plans for the land and will continue to develop this property gradually within the near future.

"We are extremely blessed, after five years of being in Samoa, five years of prayer and we have finally been able to purchase a lovely piece of land which we can call home for the Salvation Army Samoa," he said.

"It has been a wonderful morning of God's blessing and of celebration. We will work to develop it so that we can operate from this site. We are currently at Motootua and we will be there until we move eventually."

The morning started with a small prayer, hymns and was followed by the blessing of the property which the church hopes will be instrumental in taking Samoa forward.
