Samoa Information Technology Association (S.I.T.A.) has hosted a Tech Expo for Covid Recovery Technology which united secondary school representatives from New Zealand, Australia and American Samoa.

S.I.T.A. alongside its partners made the event specifically to contribute to the goal of achieving a digitally transformed Samoa and held it at the TATTE Convention center.

One of these projects included the start of the e-Learning Platform called Moodle, which came on the scene back in 2020 due to the declaration of the State of Emergency brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Samoa College and Avele College students were invited to participate in the Tech Expo, in the hopes of introducing these e-Learning Platforms to them and their schools prepare themselves when they reach the foundation level of education when Moodle will be used.

The Minister of Communication Information and Technology, Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesemo, officially opened the S.I.T.A. Tech Expo 2022 and gave the keynote address.

"This event is a significant milestone given it has been a challenging year, Samoa was primarily isolated from the rest of the world for over 2 years and ICT has kept us connected," said the Minister.

"It has had a tremendous impact on allowing individuals to virtually attend meetings ensuring that Samoa as a whole is never left behind in these advancements."

S.I.T.A. and other ICT industries hold these events with the purpose of promoting and providing suitable forums that promote information processing and computer technology. Over the next few days, S.I.T.A. will be focusing on COVID- 19 recovery technology.

It has been five years since S.I.T.A. hosted their last conference and are keen on refreshing and rebuilding again post-COVID-19. Its objective behind the use of technology is to unite and bring everyone together in the ICT industries and those interested.

The Tech Expo will also go over past results in order to learn and better their advancement forward with the hopes of providing a more improved service to their clients.
