Faleata No. 2 marks 60th Independence anniversary

The theme for this year's 60th Independence anniversary celebration "to sail with faith" echoed through cultural performances put together by the constituents of Faleata No. 2 on Saturday. 

Held at Falemauga the event was the Faleata No. 2 District's contribution to Samoa's year-long celebration to commemorate 60 years of Independence. 

Earlier this year, the Government announced that the commemoration of its 60th Independence anniversary celebration would be carried out over a 12 month period until the 31 of May, 2023. 

The constituency of Faleata No. 2 is made up of Elise Fou, Falelauniu, Siusega, Talimatau, Tanumapua, Tapatapao, Tulaele-uta, Tulaele-tai, Vailoa, Vaigaga, Vaiusu and Leaupani.

People of all ages from different age groups gathered to witness and participate in the celebration on Saturday. 

The Member of Parliament for Faleata No. 2 and the Minister for the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour as well as Public Enterprise could not attend the celebration. 

He traveled over to Savai'i for the official opening of the Gagaifomauga No. 3 District office at Sasina. 

However, Tagaloatele Pasi Polo, who is the Member of Parliament for Sagaga No.4 attended the celebration and was given the honor of hoisting the Samoan national flag to officially start the entertainment prepared by the different groups in the constituency. 

Tagaloatele is also the Associate Minister of the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour. 

A church service kicked off the official programme on Saturday followed by different cultural performances by the residents in the constituency.
