Parliament must observe the rule of law too
Now that the Speaker and the Faatuatua I le Atua Samoa ua Tasi Party have lost their Appeal for two Members of Parliament of the Human Rights Protection Party to continue to be suspended for over two years, Parliament and the Executive must now settle down and focus more on the more important business of governing.
FAST is behaving as if it is still in opposition.
Already our people are suffering from the high cost of living.
And instances of conflict of interest continue at the top echelons without any disciplinary measures imposed.
Whilst the Speaker has already publicized the calling of Parliament to pass new laws presumably to counter the latest Court decision, our advice is calm down.
Five times the Court, on our request, has already struck down illegal decisions by the Speaker, and Samoa is supposed to be a Parliament that upholds the Rule of Law
