The village of Ti’avea nestled in the Aleipata district is urging all villages and Samoans to work together to make the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting successful.

Ti’avea has been winning the national beautification initiative and even if it has stopped the village is going all the nine yards to ensure that they come out on top, even if there is no prize.

Ta’utua Le’au Tautua, 65, said the beautification work should reflect Samoa’s willingness to host the nations that are coming for CHOGM.

“Since Samoa is going through so much preparation for the CHOGM, Ti’avea is more than ready for the upcoming event of our country. The whole of Ti’avea is now working on its best to do something that makes our Samoa beautiful,” she said.

“The village of Ti’avea is hosting South Africa. We are using flags and even flowers from their gardens to create a look that is unique from others.”

Ti’avea’s started from the week of Teuila Festival. The whole committee of Ti’avea is working together.

Ta’utua believes that working for the betterment of Samoa will attract more tourists and help the economy.

For now, she sees some villages not doing cleanups and not looking ready for CHOGM.

“As we all know a lot of countries are coming. It must be a whole of Samoa approach to keep our country clean and hope for a better Samoa in the future.”

She also prays that the country can work together.

“O le tele o sulu e maua ai figota, e mama se avega pe a ta amo faatasi (Strength does not come from me alone but from many).,” she said.

Ti’avea is also hoping that they too get a chance to see King Charles III and hope that the South African president pays them a visit.
