Between the Lines

NEW ROAD

Good to see the new freshly tar-sealed road in Fugalei making driving through the busy artery not so undesirable. Drainage remains an issue and should be dealt with at the first opportunity.

RENOVATION

Major renovation works are happening. A big supermarket in Fugalei is now closed for renovation and in Vailoa, a fast-food joint is also having some work done.

DEPRECIATED

During the fuel price announcement for this month, the finance ministry said the tala depreciated two per cent against the US dollar. This means prices of other goods are likely to increase.

ENGLISH NUMBERS

It was discovered during a stop at a service station that the worker did not know his numbers in English leading to filling the wrong amount. Employers should train them.

EXPENSIVE WATER

An elderly man who had paid his water bill just over a week ago was surprised to find another bill delivered to him. The amount in the bill was four times what pays usually.

KEEP COOL

Schools have started and traffic will be dense throughout the day. Please do not rage on the road. Two drivers engaged in a road rage incident did not help with the traffic on Tuesday morning.
