Between the Lines

CASHING IN

Local wedding and event photographers are cashing in on CHOGM. The government media is hiring private contractors to make up for the shortfall.

LEGAL IMPACT

The courthouse will be closed for the CHOGM week. This means that trials scheduled for that week have been shifted to other dates and some people who have been charged may stay in custody longer.

VACATION

The legal vacation would spell a breather for the legal eagles. It allows legal practitioners time to get files in order. Hopefully, all staff at law firms find themselves at work and not on forced leave.

EQUAL TREATMENT

The ministry responsible for dealing with the state visit of King Charles has had a habit of cutting off media for such visits. Local media need to be treated equally as overseas media for this trip.

SAFETY FIRST

A sewerage bailing truck employee was seen handling the hose and other equipment without gloves and proper gear. Since the pandemic is over many think that masks are now out of the question.

MISSING MONEY

Once CHOGM is over, the finance ministry should be able to find where the missing money from the Savaii constituency is and perhaps charges can be laid by police.
