Between the Lines

FINDINGS

Has anyone been held accountable for the accident that claimed the life of an EPC linesman? EPC is a public entity, and the findings of the probe need to be made public.

CRIMINAL

This is criminal. A child who is barely six-years-old rocking her infant sibling to sleep while other siblings sell various items as street vendors. The parents in the meantime, sit at the corner and watch.

CHAIRS

Perhaps better organisation is needed when you have elderly men marching in the morning and then standing for the next 40 minutes. Some chairs would have helped.

GUN AMNESTY

An update from the police to find out how many illegal gun-toting citizens have given up their arms would be nice. The amnesty runs until the end of the next month.

GETTING BUSY

Samoa will start to get crowded even before the start of CHOGM. Security personnel and logistical liaisons would be on the ground more than a week before.

RENTALS

Rental property prices are being put up. Some landlords are trying to evict tenants so they can lease their properties to CHOGM visitors at much higher prices.
