Public feelings mixed on second vaccine lockdown
I’iga Fono’imanu Suluo’o, 72, Faleasi’u & Faiaai
I fully support this decision by the Government because they are doing so to protect our country from the Corona19 pandemic. It’s better to get vaccinated and be safe rather than being anti-vaccination and then later on regretting the decision once the virus reaches and infects Samoa in the future.
Fa’ai’u Faatuau, 39, Moamoa
Whether the decision is right or wrong, I support whatever decision the Government has decided to take for the safety of our people. We as Samoan citizens should adhere and follow the Government’s move to hold another 2-day lockdown so Samoa can have a 100% fully vaccinated population.
Etevise Pologa, 55, Afega
Although as a business owner I am not happy with the decision to temporarily halt public transportation and close all businesses for two days in order to complete the 100% vaccination drive, but as a Samoan, I agree because safety and protection against the COVID-19 virus should be made paramount.
Nelly Purcell, 58, Malaela Falealili
We are one of only two countries that are still COVID-19 free. If we want it to stay that way then we should all listen to the Government and obey what they have decided on, because they have done so for the well-being of our people. Prevention is always better than cure, so this is our time to get our jabs and wait for when the disease hits Samoa.
Eperone Mikaio, 29, Solosolo
I totally agree and fully back the upcoming 2-day vaccination drive not because I’ll get two days off from work but because it will ensure that Samoa and its people are well prepared for the Covid19 disease when it does make its way to Samoa.
Viliamu Tufuga, 37, Asau
Of course I support this announcement by the Government because they are doing it out of care for our people. I don’t know why some people are still hard-headed and won’t take their vaccine injections, but if you love yourself and your family, then you should get vaccinated.
Elia Taausu, 33, Vaitele
I have seen and witnessed on the news and social media platforms that the effects of the coronavirus are devastating and have killed millions worldwide. Samoa is currently safe for the time being but eventually the disease will reach us, which is why we should listen and get vaccinated before it’s too late.
Meki Ah-Chong, 90, Taufusi
I agree with the decision but in my opinion, one day should be enough for the vaccination drive. Samoa has reached 90% of those who have received both their first and second doses of the vaccines. I am not saying it’s the wrong move by the Government, but one day should be sufficient enough to complete the process.
