The nurses at the Lufilufi District hospital have stock for the big day on Friday. As Samoa heads into their General Election on Friday, the nurses and doctors for the Lufilufi clinic are busy stocking their supplies in case something happens on the day of the election.
A patient at the clinic on Thursday told Samoa Observer how fortunate they are to have the Lufilufi hospital, as they live in Falefa, and they are a bit far from the main hospital, the Tupua Tamasese Meaole hospital at Moto'otua.
"This hospital has been a great help for us who lives far away from Moto'otua. We always come here as it is the first hospital we can find on our way to Moto'otua. It has catered for the whole district and some of the districts further down like Fagaloa, Falevao, Lalomauga, and so forth," says Manamea Taulafo, a patient who was at the hospital for her normal check-up.
The Samoa Observer visited the Lufilufi hospital on Thursday morning, only five patients were at the waiting area while one was being checked by the doctor. Two of the patients have already cast their votes in the pre-polling and says that they can't wait to see the results and they hope that no dramas will arise afterward.
"Yes, I have already cast my vote, and I hope that no one will have any ill feelings towards one another. I have witnessed on the day of our pre-polling how another voter tries to influence another. But so far, our pre-polling went well. And today, I am just here to measure my blood pressure before I go home with my daughter," says Terisa Ausage, one of the patients at the clinic.
Mrs Ausage believes she needs to get her health checked before the General election, in a sarcastic manner she told this newspaper how great she feels that she has done her vote and she hopes that the candidates will support whoever will win on Friday after the ballots has been counted.
"I am just happy that I have done my vote because I do not want to be in the crowded venues tomorrow. But whoever wins tomorrow then that's who the majority voted," she said smiling.
