Savalalo Flea Market to relocate to Sogi
The relocation of the Savalalo Flea Market to Sogi has been approved by Cabinet, says the C.E.O. for the Samoa Land Corporation (S.L.C.) Ulugia Petelo Kavesi.
Ulugia was responding to an email sent by the Samoa Observer.
However, he did not say where exactly in Sogi.
"Samoa Land Corporation (S.L.C.) initial work is to conduct survey work, environmental impact assessment (E.I.A.) and others before advertising for bids to design, supervise and the final phase is the construction of the Flea market," further read the email.
When asked when the relocation will happen and the costs involved, he did not say exactly.
"We have included in our budget for financial year 2019/2020 a figure but cannot reveal at this stage," he said.
The Savalalo Flea Market is one of the most visited places in Samoa for tourists, but the property was completely gutted by fire in January, 2016.
Temporary tents have been set up since then for businesses affected so they could resume their operations.
