The Manuiti under13 team lost the final match of its inaugural New Zealand tour to a strong Auckland Samoan selection yesterday.

The Auckland Samoan youngsters adapted better to the cold and windy conditions to run out deserved 26-7 winners.

The Manuiti, a Samoan under13 squad selected from a pool of 22 Primary Schools ends its tour with a record of two wins from four matches and showed encouraging signs for similar tours in the future.

Manuiti’s two wins included a 45-12 victory over reigning Auckland under13 champions Otahuhu last Saturday and a mid-week win over Michael Jones under13 Waitemata side 37-10.

The match was watched by an excellent crowd that included Samoa’s Minister of Education, Sports and Culture, Magele Mauiliu Magele and his

Associate Minister, Tuuu Anasi’i as well as president for the Auckland Samoans, Aiolupotea John Roache.

The team returns to Samoa on Tuesday.
