Two suspended Assistant Chief Executive Officers of the Land,  Transport Authority (L.T.A.) have appeared before the Supreme Court on charges of forgery and theft.

Mataafa Sepelini and Anoanoai Pepe Lafai appeared before His Honour Chief Justice Patu Tiava'asu’e Falefatu Sapolu with their lawyer Fepulea'i Patrick Fepulea'i.

Speaking on behalf of his clients, Fepuleai told the Court that his clients are ready to enter a plea.

“Your Honour I appear on both defendants. We are ready to enter a plea to the charges against my clients if they are finalized.”

But counsel Fuifui Ioane, of the Attorney General's Office, asked the Court for a two-week adjournment.

“Your Honour, we respectfully seek two week’s adjournment for the prosecution to finalised charges. The accused are both on bail,” she submitted.

Chief Justice Patu granted the application, saying: “The matter against the both of you has been adjourned to the 14th of August this year at 10am in the morning, two weeks so that the prosecution can finalize the charges. Bail conditions to continue.”

The pair are scheduled to appear and enter a plea on 14 August 2018.
