Do something valuable with your time

You were given this life to do something useful for yourself and for those around you.

That is the opinion of Mose Selesele from Lalovi.

He is a 50 year old who has been working as a gardener for one of the couples in his village; in fact he was cleaning up the land when he was spotted by the Village Voice team.

“I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I do it every day because the land needs to be taken care of.

“I’m responsible for clearing out the lawn, the rubbish in it and making sure that no one trespasses.

“The couple gave it to me with their full trust so that’s why I take care of it like it’s my own when they’re away.”

According to Mose, the couple who own the land, are currently overseas. Mose really enjoys the work that he does.

“I like working because it helps my body and it gives me great energy.

“What’s even greater about this is that I’m working within my own village and you know it’s safe and I don’t really encounter that many problems.

“I mean sure there are problems sometimes, but it’s nothing that we can’t fix.”

Mose went on to say that his village has good leadership and that is why things are going well at the moment.

“There’s also have a good Village Council; we have rules to uphold our reputation as well.

He added “I consider myself as a hardworking person and honestly, I don’t have anything to say about anyone that’s doesn’t like working because it’s up to the person if they want to or not.

“If you want to work, then work, if you don’t, then don’t. It’s a free country.

“I’m just glad that I turned out to be someone fond of working and also someone who’s helping the community making use of the work that the land has to offer.”
