Students at Faleu Primary School, Manono, had many reasons to smile yesterday following a visit by the Ambassador of China to Samoa, Wang Xuefeng.

The Ambassador was there to present a donation of sporting equipment, stationeries and a water tank to the school.

In addressing the students and teachers at Faleu Manono, the Chinese Ambassador said the donation is part of their continuous support to develop education in Samoa.

“After the completion of your school building some years back, then we asked ourselves what can we do next to help your school?” Ambassador Xuefeng said.

“Then we became aware that the kids are having some difficulties in finding drinking water everyday so Shanghai Construction provided this water tank.

“The Embassy on the other hand provided stationeries and sports equipment for the children and we’re hoping to come back again and visit your school.”

Mr. Xuefeng reiterated that China and Samoa are very good friends, assuring that “we’ll continue to work with you in the future.”

School Principal, Maima Amosa, thanked Ambassador Xuefeng and China for their generosity.

“On behalf of everyone here, I would like to show our gratitude and appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for this donation to assist with our school,” she said.

“Thanks for maintaining the beauty of this school in so many ways that you’ve provided for us and we’re really happy to become one of your partners.

“Our sincere appreciation to the Shanghai Construction for the water tank and the Embassy for all the stationeries and sports equipment for our school. “We will maintain them and make good use of this generous donation for years to come.”
