ALL PUBLICITY IS GOOD PUBLICITY
It was wonderful to see instant and very positive feedback to the ‘Clash of the Colours’ promotion of the Blues-Reds rugby game on the evening of June 2 at Apia Park.
Sponsored by Eveni, Taumeasina Island Resort, the Sheraton Aggie Grey’s Hotel and Bungalows and the Samoa Observer, the promotion was launched with a front page photograph and story as well as a poster/entry form with all the details in yesterday’s Observer
That was the good news.
The not-so-good news bordering on bad, was that in a written response, one of our readers obviously thought the model in the front page photograph might be part of the prize package and quickly posted an admiring comment and suggested that she change her name to his.
While this was a little startling to the model herself, the competition organizers, would like to apologise if we were not crystal clear about the prizes.
Just to clarify, the model is NOT part of the prize package which includes tickets to the game, stylish outfits by Eveni Pacific and breakfasts with the Blues or Reds players at Taumeasina Island Resort or the Sheraton Aggie Grey’s Hotel and Bungalows.
Many readers are excited about the prospect of reading the P.M.’s book ‘A Memoir’.
Will it be a dry academic tome, a thriller, a page turner, a mystery, a bodice ripper or a simple biography of a village boy who made good?
Will there be revelations and explanations of the behind the scenes cover ups, punch ups? tears, bargaining, blackmail and maneuvers that have gone on in the hallowed walls of the Cabinet room?
Who were his friends, his enemies, his allies, his heroes, his heroines?
Will there be passages with him softly singing to himself, “regrets, I’ve had a few” a la Frank Sinatra’s song?
And has anyone enquired about movie rights and is so are there any jockeying amongst aspiring actors to play the lead role or even some of the supporting characters?
Here’s hoping the anticipation doesn’t outweigh the actual product.
