Dealing with Asian investors

Dear Editor,

Re: Minister wants to revisit laws

I’m glad this guy here, Finance Minister Sili Epa Tuioti, has agreed to what I’ve been writing in about in regards to Chinese businesses here in Samoa who have been allowed to come in and establish businesses the people of Samoa are already doing, especially in the wholesale and retail/supermarket sector.

Since the influx of Chinese coming in and bringing their labour force and doing businesses the Samoan people are doing, not only have they killed off the local businesses at a rapid rate but the high unemployment rate has increased as well.

There are also some fools who have questioned the legality of the decisions made by the Alii and Faipule of Salelologa and Siumu villages – of course it’s legal.

My advise to those fools is to stop blowing hot air but read the Constitution instead.

The government does not own the CUSTOMARY LANDS – the people do!

Therefore the government cannot regulate the customary lands but only the families and the villages. The power of the government stops at public lands.

Then there are those idiots who keep saying the Chinese goods are cheap. Let me ask you then, if the Chinese goods are cheap then why are people still screaming out about the high cost of living?

The government’s idea of bringing the Chinese to Samoa has backfired on them. Even this Minister of Finance thought he was smart but now he’s admitted it that the more Chinese coming in to do businesses will lead to our own people ending up with no businesses and no jobs.

This is why I’ve been calling P.M. Tuilaepa and H.R.P.P nothing but a bunch of fools. P.M. Tuilaepa and H.R.P.P. - Continue reading my threads and learn from them.

I don’t mind the Chinese/ foreign investors coming in to the country to do businesses that the Samoan people are not doing, especially when it comes to manufacturing and export.

That type of foreign investor will help create jobs and help develop Samoa economically e.g. the Yazaki company. Can you imagine having 4 to 5 companies similar to Yazaki, established here in Samoa?

They would create 10s of 1000s of jobs for our people instead of bringing in these stupid Chinese who rob the people of everything by paying crooked government members under the table to turn a blind eye to their corrupt activities and for not paying taxes.
