Crime pays pain

Think a minute…This is an amazing true story about a Colonel in England. Although the Colonel was married, he also had a mistress. He, in fact, was planning to leave his wife for the other woman. But before he could make his move, his wife made hers and planned to have him killed.

She “framed” and “set up” her husband to make it look like he had actually killed her and then hid her body.

Then her husband would be wrongly convicted and executed for murdering her. She planned to disappear by hiding for months, before she would suddenly appear in public and pretend she had amnesia with no memory at all.

Amazingly, the wife succeeded in framing her husband, so he was accused of killing her. The London newspapers called it The Crime of the Century. There was just one problem: only 12 days after she disappeared, someone recognized her on the other side of England.

She had failed to realize how famous she was. Yet of all people, this woman would have known how to get away with murder. For she was the master of murder plots as the world’s bestselling murder mystery writer: Agatha Christie.

You may think crime pays, and you are right. The one who pays is you! The fact is no one “gets away with murder” or any other wrong for that matter. Sooner or later, we must pay the penalty for all the wrongs we have ever thought, said, and done.

There is no escape! It is a law of the universe: “You reap what you sow!” Just as God’s physical laws such as gravity always work, it is exactly the same with His moral laws of right and wrong.

Sooner or later, you will pay with your life. You may think you have gotten away with that stealing, lying, cheating, unfaithfulness, or something else, but do not fool yourself—you will definitely pay, and in a way and time you may least expect it.

There is only one way out. It will not just keep you safe from horrific pain and judgment, but it is also the only way you can enjoy your life to the fullest now, without hurting yourself and others. Remember, our Maker gave us His loving laws of life for our happiness and safety.

So once and for all, won’t you humbly ask Jesus to forgive you for all of your sins? Then will you ask Him to start changing your heart and character? He will show you His only way of living that pays with His true “good life” that lasts this lifetime and the next.

Just think a minute...
