Grassroots netball builds for the future

The scorching sun on Friday afternoon did not matter to young keen netballers playing in the final games of the Faleata/Vaimauga KidsNET Primary Competition.

The Pesega College sports field was filled with families and friends supporting and cheering for their school teams.

The C.E.O. of Netball Samoa, Rosemarie Esera said the competition provided the opportunity for players to display their netball skills.

“Each week there has been a marked improvement in the games; this is where it all starts - at the grassroots level.

“I am very appreciative of the school principals for their support and for allowing their students to participate.

We have had 34 teams competing within three divisions.

“In Term 2, we are planning to hold another KidsNET Primary Competition in the Aana No1 and No2 districts and we are looking forward to a similar response and outcome.”
