The Farmer Joe Supermarket and Taula Shield competition for the Apia Rugby Union resumed as usual last Saturday with the shield holders BBE Vaiala Ulalei facing SCOPA.

The game was played under good weather conditions, despite the previous day’s torrential rains affecting the Wales vs Samoa match.

It was officiated by Roha Hoffman, from Australia who was one of the touch judges in the Wales vs Samoa test match.

The final score was 37 - 18 to BBE Vaiala, where they retained the shield for another week.

The Farmer Joe and Taula Apia Rugby Union Shield was presented by Gwilym Lewis, the Chairman of the Llanelli Warriors RFC - a visiting club from Wales.

He also presented a Llanelli shirt to a player they had unanimously decided was the man of the match - Jay Malielegaoi from BBE Vaiala.

At the end of the presentation, all three teams - Llanelli Warriors, SCOPA, BBE Vaiala came together in celebration.

Next week’s shield match will be BBE Vaiala against Apia Maroons.
