People don’t talk enough about the love of God upon Samoa.

While there will always be struggles and hardship, elderly father, Malae Tele Tupulua. of Lalomauga and Leulumoega, says Samoa should always be grateful for God’s guidance.

The 76-year-old says there are two ways people can approach life.

They can be bitter and angry at the challenges or they can be grateful that God has never forsaken at us.

At his age, he chooses to be grateful.

He admits that life is not the same anymore.

“We have so many crimes and so many challenges nowadays,” he said.

“These are all part of changes but if our country is truly founded on God, we shouldn’t be having any of these.”

When he was younger, Malae said they did not have much but they were happy and contented. There was no need to steal and rob people of their properties.

“I mean we may have some cases referred to the Lands and Titles Court but we did not have this daily instances of rapes, killing and abuse. Now everyday there a serious crime being committed.”

Malae reminds that God is watching always.

“As a Christian country we believe God never leaves us,” he said.

“I truly believe that these issues are happening because of the lack of spirituality in our lives.

“We always talk highly of our country and beautiful our surrounding but the issues going on in our society are disgusting.

And why is that?

“Some people depend on how smart they are and rely on their own super strength to do things instead of depending on God to lead and guide.

“I’m not saying that I’m perfect because I do make mistakes but I always repent and ask God for forgiveness.

“To me, I truly believe that God is the only answer to our problems. We say that everything starts at home, and I also believe that if a family prays together they will stay together.”

The elderly father said the solution has to start at home.

“Most of the crimes are happening at our own homes. And all because we no longer let God take the lead of our own lives,” he said.

“If we get it right with God, everything will be okay.”

Malae says the weapon is to pray.

“Just as what I’m doing in my own life. As you can see I am still strong and healthy enough.

“I pray to God every single moment to protect and help my family. I think everyone should continue to pray for Samoa. God will never leave us but we also have to be faithful and do our part.”
