Walter Leota prevails, books ticket to Hawaii

The Le Manumea Hotel and Return to Paradise Beach Villas brought fire to the table with their unquestionable skills during the latest round of the Faletalimalo Siva Afi Challenge this week.

Lene Alema, a former Champion went head to head with young cousin, Walter Leota, in the most anticipated contest of the night. 

At the end of the outstanding challenge, Walter prevailed.

Lene Alema had to settle as the runner up, taking home a cash prize of $100.

 “I thank God for guiding me throughout my act tonight,” Walter said. 

“I am super ready for the championships in Hawaii, next month.”

Walter will be joined by Alema Alema and Vaelaa Iloa, travelling to Hawaii with Leota Lene next week, to compete in the World Fire Knife Championships, to be held at the Polynesian Cultural Centre at Laie. 

A fund raising event will be held at Ooh La La this Saturday night, 21st April, to help the boys’ trip to Hawaii.

On the other hand, Lene who was so used to winning last year received a wake-up call. 

“I left everything on the stage tonight and I do believe that I could’ve done better,” he said. “I will use this experience to better myself come next year.” 

Clare Leota, the Managing Director of Siva Afi, said all the competitors should be proud of their efforts. 

 “I have known these two boys since they were little,” she said. “I am so very proud of them and what they have achieved.” 

All participants will receive monetary prizes in all levels of the competition.

Next week’s challenge will be Amoa Resort and Jet Over Hotel. The contestants will be Reupena Luamanu vs Vaelaa Iloa.
