The Faletalimalo Siva Afi Challenge continued at the Siva Afi weekly show at Matautu-tai last week.

The challenge between hotels has uplifted the level of skills in young people and has inspired the younger generation in so many ways with the traditional Siva Afi fire dance.

Sheraton Hotel Mulifanua came prepared with their best two fire knife dancers. The elite competitors were Jacktai Laban and Pasikale Toomalatai.

“I have been dancing ever since I was young. This has been a family talent and I wanted to be part of it,” said Jacktai.

“Being a part of this Siva Afi Challenge means a lot to me and my family. My father is here with a couple of friends just to watch me perform tonight – it doesn’t get any better that this” says Pasikale.

At the end of the event, Jacktai Laban won the challenge and he now advances to the next round.  Pasikale Toomalatai walked away with a monetary prize as runner up.

“I just want to commend the Siva Afi team for continuing to host the Faletalimalo Challenge. I truly believe that this challenge has elevated the level of skills of our young people,” says Kirk Murray, a representative from Sheraton Hotel.

All participants will receive monetary prizes in all levels of the competition.

This week’s challenge will be the best two fire knife dancers from Tanoa Tusitala Hotel.
