Concerns about the rise in crime in Samoa need to be addressed.

So says Alatupe Nikolao from the village of Eva.

Her message to Samoa is simple.

“Working together to solve something is the easiest way,” she said. “We all have a role to play.”

The 44-year-old says it’s easier to address something early than to try and deal with it later.

“All is well here in our village,” Alatupe said.

“We make what we have last and we have nothing too much to worry about.

“However, there is no denying that Samoa has been dealing with too many problems from bad behaviour.

“If your family and village work together on problems then we can have it fixed.

“Unity can help overcome any tough task for everyone.

Alatupe said one of the most common problems is the bad behaviour of the young people.

But this requires a community effort to solve.

“Whatever happens, the parents and children need to sit down and communicate and sort it out,” she said.

“That’s how we should all be. It makes life easier and helps everyone by taking some weight off of their shoulders.

“We are all Samoans, we help one another and that way, we can all live a joyful and peaceful life.

“Samoa is founded on God, the people should follow our motto and must keep Samoa a peaceful country. “

She went on to say that Samoa is the best place to stay.

“Living in Samoa is the best,” she said. “Why I say that is because we have our family here and there is always a saying there is nowhere in the world that beats living with families.”
