Leota Leuluaialii Ituau Ale is ready to contest the seat for the Territorial Constituency of Anoama’a Sisifo in next week’s General Elections.

This followed a decision by Leota Seiuli Visesio Seufata and the Village Council of Solosolo to withdraw their eligibility challenge against the former Speaker of Parliament.

The matter was brought before Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu and Justice Lesatele Rapi Vaai, on Tuesday.

The applicant was represented by lawyer Tuatagaloa Shane Wulf while the first respondent was represented by Alalatoa Rosella Papali’i.

The second respondent was the Acting Electoral Commissioner. He was represented by the Acting Attorney General, Muriel Lui.

When the matter was called, Mr. Wulf confirmed to the Court that they had filed a motion to withdraw the matter on Monday evening. The motion included the first and second respondent.

Chief Justice Patu accepted the motion and dismissed the matter.

Outside the Court, Leota was overjoyed.

“I’m now ready for the Elections next week,” he said. “I’m so happy and I’d like to thank all my supporters.”

Leota is running as an independent candidate under the flag of the ruling Human Rights Protections Party.

He is up against the Deputy Prime Minister, Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo and another candidate Tufeau Faatuai Pulepule.
